For Windows NT/2000/XP users

DOSPRN can now use the dos-utility prn2file.com to automatically capture data, by which the DOS application will send this data to the printer running under Windows NT/2000/XP. This driver redirects all data printed in the current DOS-box to a dos file.

During installation, DOSPRN automatically places a call to prn2file.com into file %SystemRoot%\System32\autoexec.nt. This batch file is run each time you start the DOS-application.

You can also place a call to prn2file.com immediately before running your DOS-application. To do this, create a batch-file and place a call to prn2file.com and your DOS-application into it. Of course, in this case you need to remove the call from %SystemRoot%\System32\autoexec.nt.

Parameters for redirector:

PRN2FILE [/C] [filename] [#<Num. LPT>] [/S<sizebuf>] [/X<XMSsizebuf>]
  where
filename - name of file or directory to save captured data (default: c:\prnspl1)
#n - number of LPT (default: #1)
/C - check configuration file in the same directory as filename
/S - conventional memory buffer size in bytes (default: /S4096)
/X - XMS buffer size in Kbytes (default: /X200)

If PRN2FILE cannot allocate enough XMS memory buffer, it will use conventional memory only. In this case default size of conventional memory buffer will be automatically enlarged up to 16Kb.

If your DOS-application generates large reports, you may increase the buffer size parameter.

If /C option is specified DOSPRN will check PRN2FILE.CFG in the same directory where captured data file should be placed. In such case DOSPRN will capture LPT traffic if configuration file is present only.

Note:

In DOSPRN, you can also change the parameter "Job filename" to another valid DOS filename with full path and specify in your DOS-application this path/filename. You have to disable 'Capture port' option for this purpose
